RE: [ACEsthetics] pt n pain

I do not understand people refusing to take pain meds unless it make them sick or they have previously had problems.  I finally almost had to beat one over the head with a post implant placement/bone graft pain issue…take the damned pain medication.  You ain’t gonna get hooked on 20 or even a 100.  People had a preconceived idea on pain meds that if they take one, they are hooks.  I had one that right in the midst of a fractured jaw which he refused pain meds and just bitched and moaned he fell and tore up his shoulder.  I go over to see him and he’s lying there with a morphine pump.  Go figure.

Already did the Medrol dose pack after her husband called, she refused pain meds so Lorcet is out and she's taking 800 mg advil.  Seems like I'm on the right track as long as she's willing to wait it out.

It's a fiber post so I doubt there is a root fracture.

Ken ... What kind of post?  Any chance of root fracture?  I seem to remember some colleagues give an injection of ?  ... can't remember the name right now, but I thinks acts as an anti-inflammatory.

I did a retreat of an endo on #6 Thursday night and she has called me three times today complaining about pain.  I've asked her if she wants pain meds and she doesn't.  She's taking Advil.  I have her on clindamycin 300 mg qid.  There's a post in the tooth.  The endo looks perfect and I told her she'll have to wait it out a day for the antibiotics to kick in.  Any other suggestions?
