Re: [ACEsthetics] Fw: secession

That's just my point! The harsh conditions imposed upon the South by the Radical Republicans led to toughening up of you people, which precisely was the reason for your gridiron dominance. So, SEC championships are a direct result of Radical Republicanism.

LOL..Ok. I see it also as that the treaty of Versailles was one of the main causes of WW2. Yes, it was Hitler, but a great deal of it was the harshness of the treaty that allowed Hitler to come to power. It was also the harshness and treatment of the South, during Reconstruction, that set the tone for the Jim Crow laws and the whole Southern attitude of "us against them."
Hell, if the North and the Radical Republicans had treated the South better, giving us a more accepted feeling, the SEC may not have won 7 straight BCS championships!!! (There, Rick, we're talking football)

Jack,
I didn't question your adjectives - just your conclusions :-)

Aaahhhhh, Bruce, the term, "Radical Republicans" is a historical and political term, not mine.     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radical_Republican   They were a faction of the Republican party that opposed Lincoln and was opposed by the moderate Republicans, just as much as by the Democrats of that time. The Radicals took control of Congress in 1866 and took control of Reconstruction.

The world according to Jack, the Democrat:
"Radical Republicans, that took over after his (Lincoln's) assassination, treated the South like a conquered nation (which it was0, setting the South back 100 years."

The Reconstruction according to Wikipedia, not a Democrat:
"Southern Democrats, who strongly opposed African-American equality to whites, regained power in each state by 1877. Most historians consider Reconstruction a failure because the South became a poverty-stricken backwater and whites finally re-established their supremacy, making the Freedmen (blacks) second-class citizens by the start of the 20th century."

So, the Radical Republicans were in charge for 12 years and then the Democrats were in charge for the 83+ years thereafter, but it is the fault of the Republicans? The Dems were in power 7 times longer than the Republicans, but it's the Republicans fault. What flavor was the Koolaid, Jack?

True. Lincoln wanted to accept the South back in as full citizens and part of the US. The Radical Republicans, that took over after his assassination, treated the South like a conquered nation, setting the South back 100 years. As The Band so brilliantly said, "I don't mind them chopping wood, and I don't care if the money's no good. Just take what you need and leave the rest, but they should never have taken the very best."

Nope not about Lincoln.  Never had a bad thing to say about him.  If that idiot actor had not killed Lincoln the South would be ahead of the North today.  We would have had real reconstruction.  You know how when we win a war we rebuild the country we blew up and they come out richer than us…that's what would have happened.

from  a buddy in Texas:

Is Guy talking about that Marxist, yellow bellied, lying, murdering, baby killin, scalawag lawyer, heap of crap Yankee Abomination Lincoln?

I learned that directly from my relatives who were still scarred by Lincoln's "Reconstruction" which was just another way the Yankees invented to steal from the South.. The lowest form of life to them was a DamnYankee Carpetbagger. Since he never made it down South after he got through killing good Southern boys, he didn't earn the name "Carpet Bagger."

Now, any of you brainwashed admirers of Lincoln and his good friend, Karl Marx (yep, that one, the one who invented the Communism that has caused more carnage within nations than the War of Northern Aggression) really think that the War of Economic Aggression was over slavery, then explain this to me: Why did Lee free his slaves when the War began and Grant didn't free his slaves until the law made him do so after the
War?

That's because the War was for the economic benefit of the North.
