RE: FW: [ACEsthetics] Sil-Tec For Prelim Impressions

Ok.  He gave you the official cya position.  Did he say why it is not appropriate.  Because they never did the testing necessary or is there truly an issue with it.

Folks.. here is the reply from Dr Tysowsky VP Ivoclar.

The official position is that Sil Tec is NOT appropriate for intra oral use and is a Lab material.

For those of you who like to read literature, the specs fromn the Company are attached.

Quick question:

Somewhere along the way, someone told me that Siltec was not supposed to be used in the mouth because it was carcinogenic or something. That source said that the manufacturer instructions are for lab use only. Is this true?

Reason I ask is that I just found out that the practice I work for on Wednesdays has been using it for all of their prelim impressions.

Anyone know definitively? I know I can call the manufacturer, and I will if I don't get a definitive response here.

Thanks.
