Intelligent, analytic assessment of US/Canadian differences is welcomed and fascinating. The original arrogant condescending post that was made about it rubbed all the Americans on the forum the wrong way except for Guy who is apologizing for himself. The blow back was because of the tone and sarcasm not the subject manner. Bruce was merely stating what most Americans were thinking. Some shouldn't argue with whom they constantly loose.

No need, Guy. I know perfectly well that Most Americans are perfectly nice and decent folks with much more in common with us than anyone else - more in common than differences.
I make no claim to any special insight into the American psych, but you must realize that 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the border, and grow up immersed in your TV and news and culture - while Americans are largely unexposed to the culture of a tiny neighbour. It should not be surprising that we should be more familiar with Americana than you with Canadiana.
This whole thing started with my assertion that we have a few distinct differences that are more apparent to Canadians than Americans, gun culture being one. I stand by that, but it got blow up into this big personal, supposedly anti-American mudwrestling event. Sorry again for letting than happen - and I would also like to apologize for Justin Bieber, Nickleback, and Jim Carrey. They are not really my fault, but I feel badly just the same,
Maybe this will help clear the air:
P.S. Jeff is cool, but I no longer read Bruce because I think that's better for everybody. I don't know who this "Sultanov" is.
