70% faculty fail tech test conducted by JNTU-Hyderabad
30 Augh2013 Reported in indiancollege dot com
In the Faculty Eligibility Test (FET) conducted by JNTU-Hyderabad about 70% faculty failed the technology test. Only 400 candidates passed the examination. The qualifying marks for Other caste(OC) is 40 per cent for OCs and 30 per cent for reserved category candidates.
The FET qualification is mandatory to be appointed as faculty in engineering colleges. About 400 engineering and 100 pharmacy colleges are affiliated to JNTU, Hyderabad. According to the sources sub standard faculty is being recruited and the colleges were paying AICTE salaries to their faculty only on paper, whereas their actual salaries were far less. FET was introduced by JNTU, Hyderabad in 2010 following complaints against colleges for not recruiting following the expected teaching standards. The eligibility test was aimed at improving the teaching standards in engineering colleges by appointing only qualified faculty for the students.
