Technical/Functional Skills | Senior Oracle App DBA: Capable of providing maintenance and operational support for the database and applications that are a part of the system.
The successful candidate will participate in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment supporting the transition from individual home-grown applications to a new ERP solution. The position involves the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of Oracle databases, in both a development and a production environment. The candidate will need strong analytical skills, strong communication skills, and extensive experience in both UNIX and Oracle administration. The candidate will be involved in the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of Oracle databases, both in a development and a production environment. In addition, he/she will be involved in production deployments of the application, COTS tools, and database changes. Support in creating the deployment plans and installation instructions, along with process documentation, is expected. Strong data analytical skills and experience with the ability to communicate is a must. Extensive experience of UNIX, Shell scripting, stored procedures, and relational databases is critical. Must be able to work in a team environment and work independently with minimum management oversight. Must possess high energy and have a strong motivation to make a difference. The work is fast paced with changing priorities. Task switching without loss of productivity is a must. Completion of assigned tasks is expected without constant review.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering or computer field; four or more years of Oracle Application DBA experience in the software development lifecycle. Experience of performance tuning is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms; Demonstrated ability to work within deadlines and schedules; Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and workloads; Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn emerging technologies; Demonstrated ability to handle direct customer interaction professionally.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: • Talented Database Administrator with at least 4-5 years experience supporting Oracle in a Sun Solaris • environment. • Thorough knowledge of System DBA skillset, to include Oracle Grid, RAC, and DataGuard. • Ability to provide database sizing and tablespace maintenance • Ability to setup and configure DataGuard databases • Thorough knowledge and understanding of database structures • Ability to develop new functionality • Responsible for logical and physical database models • Ability to deploy new objects to the database • Administer (create/update/delete/reorganize) all database objects • (tables/views/indexes/sequences/clusters/packages/procedures) • Ability to partition database objects • Able to perform data scrubs and refresh data in requested regions • Ability to generate custom reports per Client's requests • Ability to create database replication • Able to assist developers with database coding • Familiar with sizing database objects and request tablespaces in regions • Able to determine project schema requirements for a region • Able to plan and implement data security (database object access and management) • Ability to enforce database constraints to ensure integrity of the database • Able to implement standards to ensure code is developed with proper integrity and security • Able to perform backups of specific objects as needed • Ability to research applicability of new Oracle features • Able to perform database tuning and performance monitoring • Able to perform SQL tuning and re-write code as necessary • Monitor jobs related to application and data replication activities • Able to liaise with developers and other customers • Troubleshoot application and/or database errors • Able to setup and maintain documentation and standards • Maintain EON on-call lists and even definitions • Experience with Oracle Replication • Experience supporting a production system/database is required. • Experience in creating and executing Disaster Recovery Plans is highly desired. • Prior experience supporting JBOSS or Red Hat application server is a plus • Must have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills • Must be able to effectively articulate complex, technical concepts to on-site clients, non-technical • management and co-contractors
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: • US Citizen • Current DoD Top Secret w/SSBI • Must demonstrate a strong sense of self-motivation and direction • Must be a team player • Understanding of application development lifecycle processes is a plus • Common office software skills (Word, Excel, Visio) • Must have a strong motivation to make a difference • Location: Alexandria, VA or Seaside, CA
