Re: [MTC Global] Article-NPA Management in banks-An innovative approach.

Dear Sir,

The article is written from the banks's perspective on management of NPAs.The article attempts to cover some new and different methods which can be adopted by banks in the management of their NPA portfolio. In this context, referral of prospective suppliers and buyers to the sick companies by the banks will add fillip to the efforts of banks when a financial restructuring/additional funding is being considered to revive the sick units. This will boost the cash flows and improve the working capital cycle of the sick units and assist their efforts in revival and also speed up the process of recovery of bad loans of the banks as well as in converting the bad loans into quality asset portfolio.
The scope of the article covers the above aspects.
However, I value the views expressed by you ,though they are not specifically related to the points covered in the article.

With regards,

Dear Sir, I really wonder what is the innovative approach to a problem of payment
default on Outstanding debt? Are we not deluding ourselves by letting the loans go
bad and looking for ways to compensate for this loss by some other means.
If the innovative approach is to show the NPA as a good asset and then issue NCDs
for a charge on these assets is to pass the buck to ignorant and unsuspecting
people. I think that any other method short of grasping the nettle is to fool
ourselves. I don't think any predetermined computer based decision will be
adequate.
