JOB SUMMARY: The Technical Cognos Consultant is responsible for providing technical expertise in the design, development, implementation, and deployment of information systems.  The person in this position must demonstrate the ability to solve complex technical problems, take responsibility in delivering complex solutions, and adhere to Re:Sources IT practices. This person will interact with the technical cognos lead and architects, project and program manager, infrastructure and hosting, custom development, client portal and IT security teams in order to accomplish the assignments. Will also be responsible for the installation, setup, administration, maintenance, and enhancement of new and existing applications and infrastructure.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   Technical Competencies Hands-on implementation of standards, processes, and procedures related to application infrastructure setup, administration, security, clustering, upgrade management, monitoring, capacity planning, fail-over, and disaster recovery, etc. Collaborating with the architecture and development team leads to provide hands-on analysis and resolution of issues. Review and improve application configurations. Research and resolve issues related to applications. Ensure all environments are documented through data flow diagrams and configuration requirements. Technical planning and implementing of tools/solutions to improve the application architecture in terms of performance, resiliency, availability, scalability and globalization needs. Deploy 3rd party and internal application upgrades, patches, and documentation Experience   This candidate is expected to have a lead role in all aspects of IBM Cognos BI Suite infrastructure administration in large scale user base. The required skills include but not limited to the following:     5+ years working with Cognos Enterprise Planning 5+ years working with relational databases, and administering SQL Server in an enterprise environment. Cognos Server, Framework and Content Administration Experience in upgrading the Cognos BI 7, 8.4 to Cognos10.2 Experience in administration in Cognos 7/8.4/10.2 environment and Cognos 10 SDK Experience in installing IBM Websphere application server 6.x/7.x and should be able install and configure Java based applications in Websphere environment Proven experience in Cognos account management and access control. Strong experience in authentication and authorization mechanisms using AD and LDAP servers and single sign on tools Strong experience in performance tuning of applications and capacity planning Developed Reports using Cognos 7/8.4/10.2 Active Reports & Statistics. Security for Cognos 7 content to Cognos 10.2. Experience in Cognos 7 to 10.2 BI (Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query Studio, Event Studio, Metric Studio, Analysis Studio and Cognos Connection) and Report Net1.1 Expert at creating Multi-dimensional Cubes for corporate data using PowerPlay Transformer. Published cubes and PowerPlay reports to Upfront using PowerPlay Enterprise Server. Strong programming and debugging skills Hands on experience in administering, deploying and maintaining models, reports and cubes Working experience with SQL database environments, Knowledge of ETL technologies, preferably SSIS Development of macros, jobs, scripts and events to automate data flow Building and maintaining complex reports using Cognos BI and other reporting engines Strong customer focus and ability to manage client expectations Ability to write and maintain technical documentation and procedures Good understanding of the Software development lifecycle Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems independently as well as in collaboration with a team Ability to take initiative and work without supervision Ability to work as a effective team member in a multicultural environment is must Should have excellent interpersonal skill as well as oral and written communication skill
