Do The Fruits Taste Bitter?

by  on August 9, 2012 in arMoral

Once there was a famous King and he had a slave called Shafiq.

The King loved Shafiq very much because of his great wisdom.

From time to time, the King would test Shafiq with various things to see how much love Shafiq had for him.

One day, King gathered the most bitter fruits from his garden and called Shafiq.

The King told Shafiq to eat them. Shafiq took the fruits in his hands and kissed them and then started eating them without any hesitation.

The King observed that Shafiq was eating the fruits with great pleasure and the bitter taste was not affecting him in any way.

Now the King started thinking that he might've picked the wrong fruits, so, he took one of the fruits from Shafiq to find out.

As soon as the King took a bite, he was overwhelmed by the bitterness of the fruit and started screaming for water.

When the King settled down, he asked Shafiq why he was unaffected by the fruits.

Shafiq said "You only see the bitterness of the fruits but you don't see the one who gave them to me? They were given to me by the king himself!!!"

Moral of the Story: some of us might find some of the instructions of God bitter and hard to follow. However, they are given to us by the King of all kings, our Lord!!! So shouldn't we follow them with love and enthusiasm.
