In my opinion we do need reservation system but of different nature. We need institutions where free education will be provided to have-nots and drown trodden societies to make them competitive to earn their place based on their merits. Efforts of Prof. Anand in Patna could emulated by the Government. A small effort in this direction was made through Navoday Vidyalaya which gave excellent results for first few years and then same corruption entered into these institutions also and today they have remained only for name sake. RtE is a step in right direction on paper but its implementation is so lousy that soon it will lose its relevant. Ensure that facility is given only to those who are willing to invest time and effort and ensure that schools are reimbursed all the cost (not only tuition fees) and we can have good results. But today the state of affairs is that admissions are made on the paper but majority of the students do not attend the schools because then can not afford other costs of uniforms, books, transport, food etc. Regards Virendra Goel From: join_mtc@googlegroups.com [mailto:join_mtc@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Imimarla@aol.com Dear N. Chandrsekhar, I am glad to have found someone like-minded - I get a lot of flak from various sides, but obviously, all have th!eir own (not-so hideable!) agendas. Especially political outfits: they need the reservation system as it is an easy tool fro them to play the votebank card. Let reason and a humane mindset prevail! Greetings, Irmel V. We have to follow a system for 'all of human beings' and not lower the standards for a certain class of people. A law is a law for all and goal posts cannot be altered suiting the circumstances. When you do this the politicians take advantage and make use of the altered goal posts! They tend to play between communities, people and systems! Warm regards N Chandrasekhar From: Imimarla@aol.com Dear Satish, there's nothing wrong with our Constitution! The problem is that our (political and other) decision makers violate it continuously, and that the reservation system is adverse to any sustainable development. These have to be tackled! for our own gains and hardly safeguard the interests of nation. Open the history
pages, one can find such many people who work only for self-gains.Democracy is simply a tool
that itself cannot bring welfare of people. We have the first President from Bihar, and almost
all PMs from UP. Where do these States stand today? Biharis and UP people can do wonders (rich
in water. land and minerals)if properly directed by the stalwarts of democracy.
Think of productivity of the work force in organized sectors. Think of law enforcement in
India. Who will bell the cat? Not certainly common man alone who is starving, hungry of, for
want of excellent leaders, light house, path finders.

Re: [MTC Global] RE: India a view point
Dear Shri Goel,
reservation/quota systems are always adverse to sound, meritorious development. That is why it cannot be substituted by any other type of reservation system, it can only be abolished. Equal opportunities to all, that is what is needed and for this, Indian society has to mature in a strong civil society without superstitions and the like. Alas, our educational institutions purport superstitions and all concepts/ideologies/religions related to these. We have to fight exactly on this front, not compromising on more 'convenient' issues. Committed, enlightened teachers could be at the forefront - but: where are they???
Greetings,
Irmel V. Marla (Sociologist/Anthropologist)
