Re: Re: Re: [MTC Global] empowerment of AICTE

In-spite of limited success of AICTE for bringing the professional education to
the World Class Education, AICTE has put in concentrated efforts to improve the
status. For instance, refer to guidelines published by AICTE in 1993 regarding
infrastructure norms that are later subjected to modifications from time to
time.

Because of some technicality, the control of professional education is now being
transferred to UGC. UGC more or less is following the same norms set by AICTE
including NBA.

The big question is whether UGC will be in a position to ameliorate the
situation to the expected levelor not?

I personally think the GOI will overcome the issue by empowering again AICTE by
one or the other way.

State universities and technical universities are playing their role. Anyhow,
all colleges in HE in one or the way are under the control of UGC because these
colleges are affiliated to universities that are constituted under UGC Act.

Instead of struggling whether UGC or AICTE as the regulatory body, let us focus
on thee issue how to impart quality education at affordable cost to the last man
in the society.

Making all colleges autonomous institution is not a viable solution because the
experience is not very positive due to our mental set up. The important point is
adopt less regularization for the colleges with heavy hands on those who violate
the rules.
