[MTC Global] Seniors & Environ

Dear MTC G Colleagues

A Management Lesson from Indian Cricket team : The dismal performance of Team India on the recent N Zealand tour & present Asia cup has an important "Management lesson" to offer.

The Head / CEO/ Captain must create the Right Environment for Employees to Perform:

A congenial atmosphere ensures good technology transfer from Seniors to Juniors. Sachin, Gangulay, Laxman, Dravid, Kumble should have guided the youngsters & transferred their expertize & experience. This was not possible as MS Dhoni was constantly targeting the seniors & pushed them out of the team, one after another.
He never utilized the expertize & wisdom of Seniors to formulate strategies & win MATCHES OVERSEAS.
What a loss to the Nation! Selectors & MSD are answerable .
Result is - Today, barring Virat Kohli & Rahane,, all others like Rohit, Murali, Shami, Sharma lack those skills, knowledge & are struggling to Deliver Consistently, which is the hallmark of Performers. Ishant Sharma takes 5 wickets in first innings & goes wicketless & gets hit for 150 runs in second innings. So alo Shikar Dhawan or Murali or Rohit, who score once in 3 or 4 matches.
Similarly, in any organization, there must be proper internal technology transfer from Experienced Professionals to the Juniors & Freshers. The MD or CEO must constantly strive to motivate youngsters, resolve conflicts & ensure expertize passes on from the Experienced to Inexperienced. He or she must respect Age, Experience, give importance to senior staff members & pacify their ego. Then, they will train the young gens & teams , who need to perform & carry on the tradition. So also, the Principal or Director of an institution must build relationships & win the confidence of senior faculty & professionals with industry exposure. They will mould & train the juniors. That institution grows.

We have an excellent example from the present Indian cricket team.

regards
