Skills Required and Job Description:

We are interested in Health Insurance or Life Insurance expertise primarily.  
If their insurance background is auto insurance (as an example), they may not be the best fit.


1.        One key thing that I personally look for when I interview,
 
is whether they have developed
 functional specifications for designs before OR Business Requirements Document (BRD).  

Different people call "functional specs" different things, so the terminology can be a challenge,
 
but they might have designed screens and/or reports in the past.  


2.       Having a technical background is
 not required at all.  
What we need is deep insurance industry background.  

They need to know how to process an insurance claim, or administer an insurance policy, 
etc more than anything else.  

They need real world knowledge in the business of insurance.....hence the title Business Analyst, eh?

3.       Our preference is for them to live in St. Louis, Greenville, SC, or possibly Atlanta.

 Keep in mind, we are really looking for permanent hires.  
We might be willing to consider a 6 month contract-to-perm situation,
 
but the candidate would need to agree to that in advance.



Another suggestion: 
 
Looking for people with
 deep industry knowledge in Life, or Health insurance and have done some type 
of management analysis work., or maybe have managed business processes/departments, 

or perhaps been on the team when they implemented a new system.  
Ultimately we are going to train them on our system and their role would be to design, consult, test, or train others
 on that system.  

What we don't want to do is teach them the industry knowledge needed to learn the software.
