Educators in India lead the Asia-Pacific region in their support for creative expression in class as well as the use of creative tools to clarify concepts, says a recent study. According to Adobe's Asia Pacific-wide study, Education, Creativity and Employability, 70% agree that the use of creative tools enhances students' conceptual understanding. Also, 66% participants said basic digital media skills were essential for a 21century workforce. From March 7 to 18, 178 educators from across the country took part in the study, the findings of which were revealed at the 9annual Adobe Education Leadership Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, held from March 31 to April 2, 2014.

The survey participants included schools (K-12 segment ) and higher educational institutes. The survey revealed that 97% of respondents felt that creative tools help students to better grasp theoretical concepts and enhance their overall understanding in the classroom. Educators also noted the gaps in India's current education system, which 31% strongly said, does not place enough emphasis on creative expression.

Kulmeet Bawa, head, enterprise sales, Adobe South Asia, said, "The study reinforces our belief that while we all understand the need for creativity in every aspect of a student's life. We as a nation need to rethink our approach towards education to ensure we nurture the creative spark and provide the right platforms for our students."
