Title : Java or C++ Architect
Location : Sunnyvale, CA
Duration : 6+months
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
•Design and develop system architecture for end-to-end enterprise and large scale systems with focus on high availability, scalability, performance, sizing, capacity and provisioning
•Write and maintain architecture and detailed design specifications and other knowledge base
•Participate in advanced initiatives including proof of concepts, new platform features and technologies
•Track product KPI benchmarks, efficiencies and scale
•Design and develop data schema and application objects
•Maintain and enhance data models for current and future products
•Conduct system profiling and benchmarking
•Promote best practices and processes
•Conduct reviews with developers, architects, business analysts and subject matter experts to collaborate and gain consensus
•Effectively communicate (verbal & written) and collaborate with global teams
Qualifications & Requirements:
•BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
•12+ years of industry experience in software development, engineering or architecture performing hands-on coding using Java or C/C++
•10+ years hands-on experience with Linux/Unix
•5+ years hands-on experience in the design, development and maintenance of large scale distributed systems with high availability, scalability, performance, sizing, capacity and provisioning
•Proficient in computer science algorithms and data structures
•Prior work experience and deep understanding of network/internet protocols
•Demonstrated technical leadership shown by having prior work experience in the technical competencies expected in the primary responsibilities
•Proven track record being proactive and taking the initiative to drive forward technical solutions
•Demonstrated teamwork and strong collaboration skills cross-functionally and with global teams
Desired Skills & Characteristics:
• MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
• Industry experience designing and building large distributed systems
• Development experience with Hadoop, MapReduce and Indexing technologies
• Experience working with large data sets
• Experience with machine learning techniques
• Knowledge of business intelligence reporting tools
• Experience with high volume data warehousing (20TB +)
• Familiarity with Linux kernel internals
• Experience with MPP RDBMS technologies
• Experience with cyber or network security development a plus
• Agile software development experience a plus
• Other programming languages
• Scripting languages
