Senior Scrum Master with Kanban exp.

Location: San Jose, CA

Duration: 12+ Months


 

Non Locals are OK.  We can do Phone and Skype for right candidates.

 

• Must be able to nurture self-organizing, high performing teams through servant leadership and mentoring.

• Must encourage, support, and guide continuous improvement of the team, its products and processes.

• Must be an excellent communicator, able to gain the respect of the team, external stakeholders, and management.

• Must be able to resolve conflict through arbitration, negotiation, reasoned discussion, or escalation.

• Must be willing and able to identify problems, impediments, dependencies, other team dysfunctions and then facilitate quick resolution.

• Must be able to facilitate the development process.

• Must uphold and defend as well as coach and mentor agile values as expressed in the Agile Manifesto.

• Must be skilled at creating a fully transparent development process.

• Must be capable of being a ScrumMaster for 3 Scrum and Kanban teams.

 

Interaction:

• Facilitate sprint planning, retrospective and sprint demos.

• Assist the product owner with keeping the backlog groomed.

• Ensure cross-team coordination.

• Reach out to the larger company for impediment removal.

• Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing.

• Work closely with up to three development teams.

• Maintain a close working relationship with the Product Owners of the development teams.

• Develop close working relationships with all levels of management, especially the functional managers of team members.

• Work with and represent a wide variety of stakeholders that need to work with the team.

• Facilitate Release Planning and Scrum of Scrums as needed.

• Work with distributed teams (US & India) if needed.

 

Skills:

• Must have a thorough understanding of iterative software development.

• Must have a complete understanding of agile processes such as Scrum and XP.

• Kanban experience is a must (minimum of 1 year working with Kanban or Scrumban teams).

• Must have been a ScrumMaster for at least 3 years.

• Must have led teams during the transition phase from traditional waterfall to Agile.

• Must be able to explain and promote agile engineering practices such as pair programming, continuous integration, TDD, BDD and refactoring.

• Must be able to lead a team to make realistic and achievable delivery commitments.

• Should understand agile metrics and reporting techniques.

• Previous 8+ years of relevant IT experience including business analysis skills with the ability to prioritize, estimate resource load, and proactively manage IT customer expectations.

• Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse experience is a plus.

• Rally tool experience is a plus.
