From wikipedia:
Ethics, sometimes known as philosophical ethics, ethical theory, moral theory, and moral philosophy, is a branch of philosophy that involves systematizing, defending and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct, often addressing disputes of moral diversity.
Therefore, Ethics
a. is a foundation for action - not merely a platform of analysis, discussions, debates, expectations, and promises.
b. concerns both right and wrong issues
b. involves moral issues, too.
As social institutions (homes, business and other organisations, governments etc) are comprised of individuals like me, it is our behaviour (including business actions) that collectively becomes ethical culture. It is therefore improper to point fingers at institutions, viz., 'they', 'them', 'their' ethics, when I have been part (and may be, driver) of such actions, either alone or with others. Most (or all?) individuals play a schizophrenic game: they are ethically correct in public places (e.g. religious places, and when the policeman is at the traffic lights), but tend to spit in the corner, and avoid flushing the loo in the train, if no one is watching.
Perhaps we could, as individuals follow this list of tiered ethical practices (do you have a better idea?
):
1. follow the law of the country, the organisation etc
2. follow the conventions of your society / community; don't be late or rude; say "please; thank you; sorry; happy birthday; etc)
3. walk the talk with respect to our personal (tall
) public statements.
This is tiered because #2 should not violate #1, and #3 should not violate # 2 and / or # 1.
Best wishes.

Even the best of companies where people dream to work in and vaunt of
"Great Place to Work" do have consumer complaints of unethical
behavior. Honesty is how you portray yourself to the world integrity
is how you are to your inner self. One has to practice integrity ,
which is highly difficult as even the best of ethical figures tend to
be influenced by unethical practices around.
