Role: Business Analyst( Trading Experience)
Duration: 6 Months plus
Work location: Washington, DC
Minimum Mandatory Capabilities)
· Minimum of 8-10 years of direct experience in business analysis and data and
process modeling techniques. Experience with data flow diagrams, use case
diagrams, activity diagrams is highly desired.
· Advanced degrees in technology and/or finance
· Thorough understanding and experience in Trade & Supply Chain Finance
business model
· In-depth familiarity with Back Office processing
· Thorough understanding of investment processing related to guarantee and loan
operations
· 5+ years of business analysis experience on highly complex financial IT
projects.
· Minimum 5 years' experience in investment
· Excellent communication and facilitation skills
· Effective listening: ability to clearly document the real need not merely the
business want
Ability to lead the business to a solution that will meet their true needs.
· Ability to see the solution in the eyes of the customer.
· Ability to understand the client's personal style and match with equal style
that is not threatening (e.g., to a detailed style: provide detail, to a
conceptual thinker: keep it high level).
· Ability to lead: To show leadership with clients and be their voice
and to then lead the delivery for the client.
· Able to work on multiple tasks at the same time, excellent planning and
coordination ability
· Excellent writing/documentation skills.
· Outstanding analytical skills
· Ability to quickly gain an understanding of system/business processes and
interact with mid-level business users to extract business process details.
Desired Skills
(Skills not Mandatory but useful for Performance)
· MBA degree very desirable
· Familiarity with the World Bank Group technology/business environment is
highly desirable
· Accounting concepts and Financial reporting
· Practical experience with Business Intelligence techniques, reporting and
analysis
· Ability to structure and prioritize requirements to allow iterative
implementation
· Experience in working with the onsite-offshore model
· Experience with the Rational Unified Process (data flow diagrams, activity
hierarchy diagrams, use case diagrams, activity diagrams, data models) is
highly desired.
Duties
· Assess business needs
o Gather and document business requirements, functional specs and use cases
for Trade & Supply Chain products
o Perform detailed business analysis of the Trade & Supply Chain products –
including liaison with business users and IT vendors
who will be engaged to deliver/implement the solution.
o Assess overall project requirements, business needs, pain points and areas
of process improvement
o Understand business process models
o Conduct business process analysis meetings with business users and document
in detail system processes in diagrammatic and textual format
o Develop and document understanding of the system processes and data flows
o Perform data analysis
o Gain an understanding of existing systems' functionality, compare
current/envisioned business processes to system functionality, and document gaps
o Review as-is and to-be process models and associated business process flows
as delivered by the EA group for the area under analysis
o Engage System Analysts and system owners to identify and document systems
specific requirements
o Collaborate with QA lead to ensure Testing Strategy covers all Business
Requirements
o Document discussions (meeting minutes) and circulate to the group and obtain
sign off to ensure all the participants are on the same page with regards to
any issues
o Minimize gaps, redundancies, rework, and duplication of effort by
coordinating any requirements with other functional groups/portfolios
o Create requirements traceability matrix
• Conduct prioritization
o Formulate well defined user requirements tightly linked to overall project
goals to limit scope creep
o Create implementation approach categorized in logical sections based on
criticality and priority
o Manage the defined scope and present change requests to the users for
approvals
o Establish conceptual solutions
o Provide inputs driving the development of the solution design and
architecture
o Assess dependencies, potential issues and risks
• Provide ongoing guidance to development teams
o Participate, under the direction of a Project manager and Client Relationship
Officer (CRO), in the early stages of an IT project. The BA may be required to
continue working on a project as it progresses through requirements definition,
design, development and/or testing and provide clarifications to development
team when necessary
o Assist Testing team in developing and validating Test Cases, including the
traceability matrix.
• Support PM and Project team
o Assist and provide back-up to project manager
o Provide inputs for maintaining the project plan and schedule
o Participate in status meetings and help prepare status reports -
highlighting issues and constraints that would impact timely delivery of work
program items.
o Review IFC's policies, procedures and practices to determine specifications
and requirements for any customization
o Analyze and document dependencies, if any
o Provide support during UAT.
