Dear Dr. Bhattacharya,

Can you guarantee jobs to those who attend school or attend college?

No body in this world and no country that I know guarantees a job after you have studied or learnt something.

That sort of attitude exists only in some states like WB, etc in India.

It is absolutely impractical to think so.

However, if one learns a skill there is a good possibility that he or she could start something on their own or get some job to sustain themselves.

One cannot produce children at free will and then expect the State to provide them jobs. I know of families with many children: and they keep on blaming the State, as if the State was directly responsible for the size of their family.

In India. Vocational training is never encouraged.

Even in very poor families we are misguiding the youth to get a degree.

In M.P. also almost 50% seats have gone vacant and there are number of institutions which have gone without a single admission, I believe that is the case all across the country . The reason is that MBA program has been de-generated to such a low level as a graduate degree used to be at one time.
Regarding vocational courses, I had raised this question earlier also - what is the quality of aspirants going  out of these 11000 skill development centers. They seem to be places for distributing or manipulating the stipend item. Once a center is opened, there is no provision for its requirement of consumables, for repair and maintenance and for replacement and up-gradation. Older the center junk are its it equipment, tools and furniture.

China has 500,000 vocational training skill centres. Population 136 cr.

India has 11,000 vocational training skill centres. But India has 40,000 colleges. India also has 90% school drop outs between class 1 to 12! Population 125 cr.

Germany has 100,000 vocational training skill centres. Population 8 cr.

Even a small country like Switzerland has 6,000 vocational training skill centres for a population of 0.80 cr

We DO NOT NEED so many colleges!!!

We need 500,000 skill centres!
