RE: [MTC Global] [Discussion Forum] Teaching with Style

Yes, it has been rightly pointed out that today's majority of the serious students are more keen to learn from the teacher than observe the dressing sense! They appreciate his style of interaction and encouraging students' participation that enhances their knowledge and skills, and also helps to sustain their interest and relevance of that subject.

But then, the teacher should also serve as a bigger source of inspiration and positive motivation.........and there his personality and leadership approach matters. That matters more in projecting professionalism, rather then mere dressing sense. I feel that a decent, simple and neat dress (not exuberantly flashy or formal) is  helpful and good enough!

Yes, it is also neccessary to inculcate a decent dress sense in the students also, along with learning for grooming them  for potential managerial positions. It is more of an effort to influence and mold their attitudinal improvements, particularly when students in a class come from diverse social background. The esteemed members may kindly give their further opinions!

kind regards,

Engaging the students is the ultimate goal of any professor but only through teaching in whatever style, this requires a talent to make the class interactive and participative. Dressing sense is the secondary aspect but students focus more on the knowledge that the professor is imparting.

Ultimately what matters is whether a professor can keep the students engrossed during entire period without feeling bored or distracted. This includes style, personality, oratory, story telling skills and content.

A professor with a strong sense of personal style doesn't necessarily make a class better, but it also doesn't hurt also. Some students think a well-dressed professor gives off an air of professionalism and encourages them to pay attention in class; other students don't seem to notice what their instructor is wearing.

Request esteemed MTCians' views on the subject.
