1. If given full autonomy, can universities deliver goods in view of the
global scenario "extraordinary changes in university system had been seen
around the world during the past two decades"?
2. There is nothing like more or less autonomy. Only Autonomy or no
autonomy, a switch.
3. The principle "The differentiation should be based on quality performance
irrespective of whether they were public or private", seems to be good on
paper. Even with the existing sort of autonomy, University Acts, Statutes
and Ordinances do not come in our way for performance. How many universities
go for academic audit? Faculty performance appraisal? Faculty recruitment
based on merit and quality, including that of VCs?
We need to change our mind-set and need to put the best without regards to
autonomy or less autonomy, Government or Regulatory bodies What is required:
get a job based on merit, competency and quality. Be dutiful. Am I achieving
target of engaging classes 100% as per course syllabus? Am I encouraging for
the course I am teaching industrial visits and inviting industry experts?
Does university declare exam.results well in time? Am I carrying out some
research work and publishing articles? Are the exam. question papers are of
up-to mark and of quality? What is the fund and equipment utilization?, Etc.
Does it all require autonomy?
