[MTC Global] AU issues show-cause notices to 19 teachers for bunking invigilation duty

The Allahabad University has served show-cause notices to around 19 teachers for 'bunking' invigilation duty during the ongoing annual examination.

Irked over the these teachers' apathy towards exam duty, officiating Vice Chancellor, Prof NR Farooqi instructed controller of examination (COE) Prof HS Upadhyay to show-cause them. The teachers have been asked to explain as to why action should not be initiated against them. They have been given three days time to file reply.

Prof Farooqi said, "This is highly unwanted of a teaching faculty and hence a notice has been issued against them".

The COE, said, "A show cause notice has been issued as these teachers failed to perform their assigned duty. The matter will be referred to the Executive Council (EC) which will decide the future course of action."

Reportedly, during an inspection of ongoing final examination in Sanskrit department Prof NR Farooqi found four teachers of Ancient Indian History department had skipped the invigilation duty. These teachers included Prof Ranjana Bajpai, Prof DP Dubey, Prof Shashi Kant Rai and Prof Prakash Sinha. Later, 15 other teachers too were found to have skipped exam duty, reported ToI.
