Position Name:  Cognos BI Lead

Location: Raleigh, NC

Duration: 3 months, potential extention for 1 year

 

A Cognos tech lead with a primary focus of this position to provide technology leadership and architectural guidance  that support the development and implementation of  reporting solutions

On the Cognos 8/10 platform.  Any exposure to Cognos 11 is an added advantage.

 

Requirements:

 

Candidate must be experienced working in  reporting based projects involving Cognos BI.

• Cognos BI 8/10 with a minimum of 4 years in senior position

• Oracle 11/12 experience with substantial understanding of PL/SQL and understanding/decoding of stored procedures and packages

• Demonstrates ability to break down a problem to manageable pieces and implement effective, timely solutions

• Experience in architecting ground up Cognos BI based solutions, with at least 3 full life cycle implementations

• Carefully evaluates alternative risks and solutions before taking action

• Optimizes the use of all available resources

• Develops solutions to meet business needs that reflect a clear understanding of the objectives, practices and procedures of the corporation, department and business unit

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Under the direction of the Solution Architect, leads the Reporting design and solution

• Participates in defining and driving architecture competencies, processes, and best practices.

• Understands potential impacts of proposed solutions on other systems, processes or projects.

• Articulates and documents designs, considering tradeoffs, costs, and benefits.

• Hands on participation in day-to-day execution of the architecture strategy

• Works within a single project to develop, communicate, and mentor others on design/implementation standards, guidelines and best practices

 

Skills:

• 8-10 years of work experience in Cognos BI

• Strong working experience on Cognos framework manager models and reports

• Good analytical and logical skills in writing SQLs, Stored Procedures and creating Marts/Views

• 4-year degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)

• Experience working within a highly-matrixed organization

• Strong communication and presentation skill
