The viewpoints made by all members is pertaining to Lee"s leadership only & focusses on integrity, honesty, inclusiveness, empathy, visionary, etc. So the following statement made by Kuldeep Nagi is myopic & not acceptable.
"All the points raised so far do not address the main point - the importance of good leadership. Many of the comments are rather emotional, lacking honest interpretation of what Mr. Lee accomlished. He eliminated cast based politics and united his people on the premise of good life.".
When senior members are repeatedly making statements, you must understand what they are saying, before sending a mail."All the points raised so far do not address the main point - the importance of good leadership. In Indian context, not only RSS but Missionary Schools and Muslim Madrasas, Red Cross, many religious sects, God man, Gurus, temple, trusts and many NGOs can also claim that they are doing an excellent job of helping our society in good and bad times. But that is not question here.
We all know that good leadership is what steers the private sector in India or elsewhere in the world but the public sector performance suffers mainly because of poor leadership qualities and bad governance. We all know well that in Indian elections people are not led but misled by career and corrupt politicians. Cast, creed, religion and vote-banks is what dominates political spectrum and agenda; not national unity, high quality education, healthcare, jobs or prosperity.
Logically speaking, why we still remember Stalin, Mao, Lee and others? Their vision steered their nations in a new direction. They led by their leadership skills and qualities.
If Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Tata, Infosys thrives on good leadership, should not we elect/select people to high offices for such qualities? And I do agree with Prof. Waghodekar that if people select or elect wrong type of leaders, they would get what they deserve.

Politics is not our bread and butter. Without looking at the figures and
facts biased commenting is hurting India. I agree with Prof. Goel's views.
Are we keeping national interests on top priority? Are we not compromising
the power that rewards us for our vested interests? People followed Mao Ste
Tung, Stalin, Lee who stood for national interests. What is the outcome of
67 years democracy in India? Indians got the leaders they deserved. Indian
History is full of such events. The rural common man hardly speaks about
castism, race or religion, he is after his belly. A few intellectuals
generate the issues from time to time for their dividend.

has failed to provide education facilities to economically weaker sections
of the society, this organization is educating millions virtually at cost of

TRANSFER :It is about leadership qualityIf leaders in India need to learn
any lesson from Mr. Lee Kwan Yew, it is that creating a modern and
prosperous society requires building trust and unity of purpose between
people and the leaders. For India to become a vibrant economy the politics
has to shift from caste, creed and religion to high quality education,
meritocracy, rule of law and transparency in governance. This is far from
easy to accomplish when Indian leaders nurture and thrive on vote-bank
politics and patronage system. After separating from Malaysia Mr. Lee led
his people to unite as one nation. He understood well that caste based
politics will only divide people and keep the nation in turmoil. To him,
only prosperity provided the shortest route to reachingis his goal of
creating a viable civil society or his own version of democracy in
Singapore. Without any natural resources such as oil, gas, coal, minerals,
gold mines and other assets, he cultivated institutions for high quality
educationwhich in turn led to creating avery productive anddedicated work
force. He convinced his cabinet ministers and civil servants that creating
democracy not only requires significant policy rethinking but also a clearer
understanding of abysmal extent of social and economic inequalities and
deprivations in the country. He understood thata country is all about
nurturing the talent and capabilities of its people; not banking on caste,
creed and religion. India will continue to suffer from poor quality of
leadership and vote- bank politics at state and center level. Mr. Modi
alliance with Hindu fanatics and RSS folks points to the status-quo. Same is
true about Chief Minister and other leaders in many states. How can millions
of young people in India can hope for a better future when their leaders are
hopeless?

TRANSFER :One must understand the fact that Singapore is a city state with a
population of 5.47 million which is less than Banglore's population of 8.5
million and hence to compare the economic development of Singapore with the
economic development of India is not fair. India's problems are very complex
which are mix of advantages and disadvantages and there are many trade offs.
Demographic dividend which is professed much touted advantage by many
analysts could also turn out to be disaster if proper and diversified skills
are not imparted to the huge young labor force as unemployment carries all
the portents of unrest in the socio-economic milieu. Another grave problem
we have is our low labour and capital productivity which is the by-product
of inefficiency in our entire governance and more so in the public sector
units and state government administration. Democracy have certain inherent
flaws which result into slow growth as promulgation of certain acts are to
be taken by the majority. The land acquisition bill and GST are two cases in
point to substantiate this statement. Low productivity in agriculture
production and marketing, lack of infrastructure, unemployability of our
educated youth, income disparities, regional disparities, low tax GDP ratio,
high cost of tax administration, low export competitiveness due to among
others, high cost of electricity and poverty are some of the issues which are
cause of concern to leapfrog the economy on a consistent

TRANSFER : Dear Alumni, Associates, Academics Singapore ex Prime Minister
Lee Kuan Yew, one of the greatest visionaries & nation builders, passed away
recently. Following is a Case analysis of Singapore model of Technology
Transfer.
LEE SCRIPTED SINGAPORE SUCCESS STORY WITH TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER :-------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Singapore ex Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, singularly built up Singapore &
made it a developed & technologically advanced country. Having catapulted
Singapore to a per capita income of $38000 in 2015, Lee created history
which can never be replicated easily. How did he do it ?British left
Singapore in 50"s after the war. British forces used Singapore as a harbour
for ship wrecks, building & repair ships. PM Lee was left with a few
thousands of Chinese origin people & the only skill they had was ship
repairing. He thought from various dimensions, went to Israel, Suez canal,
visited African countries, found out how nations of such origin survived.
Then, he started educating, skilling & training his people in various trades
& occupations like machine operations, soldiering, english speaking, mech
engg, assembly, other core skills etc.THE TURNING POINT CAME WHEN HE
UNDERSTOOD THAT SINGAPORE WAS STRATEGICALLY LOCATED IN ASEA. HE TRANSFORMED
SINGAPORE INTO A REGIONAL SERVICES HUB, INVITED MNC"S TO SET UP OPERATIONS
THERE, GAVE TOTAL SUPPORT & CONGENIAL ENVIRON, INVOLVED & ENGAGED THE
SINGAPOREANS.IN 1959, TEXAS INSTRUMENTS CAME, THEN, MOTOROLA, IBM, HP, GM,
OTHERS FOLLOWED. ALL MNC"S HAVE A BASE OR MANUFACTURING UNIT OR REGIONAL
OFFICE IN SINGAPORE TODAY. RIGHT FROM HP"S NOTEBOOKS TO IBM"S GLOBAL
SERVICES TO SONY"S MOBILE TO GM"S CAR, IT IS MADE THERE TO CATER TO ASIAN
COUNTRIES & MARKET.In addition, Lee provided good governance, controlled
corruption, encouraged small enterprises, low investments, compulsory
savings, leveraged technologies & innovations, interfered in people"s lives,
set up major world class Universities, tied up with several advanced
nations, ensured they did the right things.Technology Transfer in Singapore
is an interesting case & part of the subjects Foundations of Technology Mgt,
Tech Transfer Mgt, offered by Business Mgt dept, Osmania University for the
MBA - Tech Mgt program. I am a Visiting Professor there since 2002.This is
just one example, among the 200 plus - developments, concepts, models,
methods - which are taught & deliberated in the unique course offered by OU
, for working professionals & fresh grads..MILLIONS OF TECHNOLOGIES &
INNOVATIONS WERE TRANSFERRED INTO SINGAPORE FROM MNC"S & ADVANCED NATIONS,
WHICH MADE IT AN ADVANCED ECONOMY.regardsRamesh Vemuganti M - 9849590511--
