Re: [MTC Global] Chetan Bhagat' s Article in TOI this month : Specially for Indian Women

Being  an  fortunate  Indian  women  we are  very  blessed to  know  our  role.  We  hardly  bothered about  statistics of  data.  Indian  women are  full of  emotions  &  large  hearted.  they  know  how  to  manage  their  home  &   work  both  &  I  personally  believe  that  only  Indians women has  the  courage to  manage  several  responsibility  at one  time  &  they  enjoy  it

Vivek Tripathi"s mail is very practical & relevant ;

Chetan Bhagat"s letter is nowhere near the reality; calling upon women to take extreme steps. How is it possible? Our society will start tumbling, if that happens. Writing 3 idiots & 5 point someone is way off from writing about Indian Woman. His letter is applicable for American & Western society. One needs age, experience & exposure to several subjects from varied background before writing a letter or coming to conclusions. A letter from a 50 plus writer will be convincing.

The strength of our Indian society is Woman - sacrificing, benevolent, large hearted, tolerant & hard working . She knows best what to do, which should be taken up, what not to do, with whom to associate/ dissociate, how to act, behave, think & move forward. More than 50% of families & households in India are run my women, who are also earning more than spouses. This number is increasing. They will tell others & men how to live - not vice versa.

This is the irony of India. We are so obsessed with famous people that we keep reading and understanding them even if that makes sense or not.

Dear Chetan, I think your data analysis and research methodology is quite impractical.Neilson survey says 87% of Indian women are stressed and your suggestions are are so straight forward and easy(prima facie). the conclusion that I can draw from your sugesstions are like -

stress with mother in law- action suggested- this is your problem
stress because of boss- action - leave the job and hence boss
stress because f husband- action -leave him
stress because of dual nature of work office and home- action -you need not to excel
stress because of competition- action- dont be competitive...

Life is not statistics and every data has lot of story behind it. I request readers to kindly put practicality of acceptance in life as a measure before actually working out on these actions suggested.

Let me clear , I am not against empowerment and right to life of women but truly suggested actions are not a workable suggestions. I think these would lead to more stress.
Life is not 0 and 1 rather there is whole lot of story in between. All decisions are not Yes and No. You cant resolve relations by this approach of 0 and 1.

Life is not bed of roses rather its a journey that takes different shades, routes and forms. You donot lead life alone. Life is not about success and failures only, its not about get it or leave it also. we need to be more understanding and matured to earn a better life, I will not say stress free but learning to manage stress, living with many people together. Many a time you take a decision for other, sometimes other does for you, many a times You feel you are correct but results shows something different, many a times actual things are different from expectations and many more situations at personal or professional fronts for all men as well as women.

There is no one in the world who is completely stress free but they have learned to manage it in one  way or the other. rather on the issues on Indian women in stress I would love to understand ways to manage it from women only. Being not a female I believe I m not the right person to put forward my suggestions and actions to resolve for them.

Chetan Bhagat' s Article in TOI this month : Specially for Indian Women. Do Read it and share it with all the women you know..

Alright, this is not cool at all. A recent survey by Nielsen has revealed that Indian women are the most stressed out in the world: 87% of our women feel stressed out most of the time. This statistic alone has caused me to stress out. Even in workaholic America, only 53% women feel stressed.

What are we doing to our women? I'm biased, but Indian women are the most beautiful in the world. As mothers, sisters, daughters, colleagues, wives and girlfriends - we love them. Can you imagine life without the ladies?

For now, i want to give Indian women five suggestions to reduce their stress levels.

One, don't ever think you are without power. Give it back to that mother-in-law. Be who you are, not someone she wished you would be. She doesn't like you? That's her problem.

Two, if you are doing a good job at work and your boss doesn't value you -tell him that, or quit. Talented, hard-working people are much in demand.

Three, educate yourself, learn skills, network - figure out ways to be economically independent. So next time your husband tells you that you are not a good enough wife, mother or daughter-in-law, you can tell him to take a hike.

Four, do not ever feel stressed about having a dual responsibility of family and work. It is difficult, but not impossible. The trick is not to expect an A+ in every aspect of your life. You are not taking an exam, and you frankly can't score cent per cent (unless you are in SRCC, of course). It is okay if you don't  do four dishes for lunch, one can fill their stomach with one. It is okay if you don't work until midnight and don't get a promotion. Nobody remembers their job designation on their dying day.

Five, most important, don't get competitive with other women. Someone will make a better scrapbook for her school project than you. Another will lose more weight with a better diet. Your neighbor may make a six-dabba tiffin for her husband, you don't - big deal. Do your best, but don't keep looking out for the report card, and definitely don't expect to top the class. There is no ideal woman in this world, and if you strive to become one, there will be only one thing you will achieve for certain - stress.

So breathe, chill, relax. Tell yourself you are beautiful, do your best and deserve a peaceful life. Anybody trying to take that away from you is making a mistake, not you. Your purpose of coming to this earth is not to please everyone. Your purpose is to offer what you have to the world, and have a good life in return. The next time this survey comes, i don't want to see Indian women on top of the list. I want them to be the happiest women in the world.

Cherish Womanhood!!

Pass this to every woman u know
