RE: [MTC Global] IIMs divided over NDA govt's new draft bill

Degrees and diplomas are mind sets. The way we are distributing degrees and diplomas they will lose their relevance after some time unless we concentrate on producing quality students rather than worried about paper handed over to the students after passing out.

This speaks of the high handedness of the bureaucrats of MHRD and its political masters. In fact, the academicians should not compromise with autonomy of IIMs for the sake of grant of degee giving status. May I appeal the IIM and management fraternity to oppose the move of the Government to create only mere operating centres. Regarding research activities in IIMs, my personal impression is that it has taken a back seat in these institution for the sake of MDPs, where there are no value additions.
