Re: [MTC Global] 400 Miles Journey

Dear Sir, I agree that in India parents and students have this mindset that one has to
excel in an exam in order to get into any prestigious institutions or a job. The
coaching classes have made a big business out of this mania.
To a large extent it is the pattern of the exam that has made rote learning and
memorizing the cornerstone of scoring well.

The strength of a memorizing system lies in the theory that there is only a single
correct solution and all other solutions are wrong. If the exams were to ask questions
that call for analyzing- synthesizing an answer based on one's understanding and
knowledge then no amount of coaching can help the student. He will be forced to think
deeply on the question and develop a satisfactory answer in the examination hall.

If a student can state his opinion and logically justify it with the required degree of
rigor then it is possible to get people who can think for themselves and find solutions
to problems

Best regards,
K.Paranjpe

his quest for educational reforms as he surely is bound to get sore feet. Our own
educational system hasn't had updation for more than 2 decades and when the Government
attempted to bring in much needed reforms and changes....the teaching staff opposed it
tooth and nail..the opposition exploited it...finally there wasn't any outcome except
for all who utilized the opportunity to settle old scores.... 1.) The disgruntled
teaching staff settled score with VC.2.) Opposition took advantage to derive political
mileage.3.) Print and visual media derived their trp mileage.Losers were the
students...the 4 year program was killed and buried...to the extent that B.Tech students
who were worst affected did not even get a hearing. We need crusaders who are willing
even to fight even if the media or others don't join in rightful crusades. On Sun, Jul
