Re: [MTC Global] Forthright government officers!

My dear  Prof. Varun I have quoted faculty example as for an instance. Please note I have eliminated 'Hatake' from 80/20 rule. My contention is clear that as the gap in absolute numbers increases the dynamic nature of living stock poses formidable issues compared to that  of static stock, inanimate materials, aptly known as dead/consumable stock.

Management is omnipresent, it is the inherent component of any system. Faculty scenario, quoted as an example for the sake of illustration,  is not out of context, neither  inappropriate nor irrelevant for simply you substitute govt. Officers in place of faculties and scenario is clear. We will find corrupt personnel (80% a suggested)  in any sector.

My main question is whether 80/20 rule is applicable to the  live stock or not? Why otherwise to talk in terms of psychology while handling  human problems? In our democratic pattern of functioning, number game is vital. We know that because of number game, many wrong decisions are thrust. Here the gap size plays a role, which is gap powerful 60 or 180?

I differ, therefore, politely and honestly from your opinion, please excuse me..

Prof. Waghodekar

In management everything said is in a context. What I had said was in the context of government officers. Your applying what I said to some faculty scenario is out of the context and therefore, inappropriate and irrelevant.

Thanks and best regards

Just recommending 80/20 rule is not sufficient and enough. Think about the other dimension in terms of absolute numbers. The gap between the 80s  and 20s is widening rapidly that is a dominating concern. For instance:
Year        No.  of Faculties         80%          20%   Gap absolute
 1985                    50                     40            10            30
  2015                  300                   240            60          180

Is Pareto analysis applicable to live stock in general, save a very very rare few ';Hatake';?

Regards.

Dear Virendraji

Very well said. The Pareto principle applies here too - around 80% of persons in the government are corrupt and around 20% are honest. We need to identify the honest persons, network with them, nurture relationship with them and make them our supporters and well-wishers. It really works. This is how I and many like me have managed to survive and "grow" despite all the problems.

Thanks and best regards

I learned a lesson or two early in life - from very forthright Government Officers:

1.       There have been, are and will remain about 15/20% such person in the Government jobs who are sincere to their duties and they keep working incognito. These are the people who have kept the country afloat and will continue to do so even against worst of the circumstances.

2.       Cultural change does not come overnight or by changing nomenclatures or the policies or the names. It takes a whole new generation to bring about the change.

I think we can look for the answers to our questions in above two lessons.
