RE: [MTC Global] An Inquiry on farmer's suicide

My own observation is that maximum suicides whether in farming or any other sector are due to increasing burden of debt on interest bearing loan obtained from unscrupulous financiers where interest rate may vary from 10% a month to 1% a day.  Poor people or those with limited financial resources have to take loan from hawks because there is no official channel money at reasonable rates is available to them. MUDRA seems to be one such effort and if it is sincerely implemented , I am sure incidences of suicide will considerably come down.

Subject: [MTC Global] An Inquiry on farmer's suicide

Dear All,

When we read local newspapers in Bangalore/Karnataka, there is a sudden increase in farmer's suicide and lot of media reports on this. No doubt that suicide is a complex psychological phenomena and may have an underlying mental health issues, I see more of  hopeless-uncertain economic condition and value conflicts. The incidents are followed by mass hysterical reaction through the media.

What as a management fraternity can do to the society at this juncture?
