-- I loved the question sir, it occurred to me quite often in the past but whenever i spoke about it, I was just made silent due to the lack of understanding of the Academicians.
A teacher or Guru is a person who loves and has passion for transferring knowledge by initiating the process in the Learner or the Disciple, he is self realized person who knows the ways of life, the truth and divinity.
Every person iis born knowledgeable but wisdom has to happen with initiation which the Guru can bless with, rest all we do is not teaching but satisfying our teaching EGO.
There will always be the need for GURU's at all times.
