It is true that Indians are weak in documentation and also in scientific temper. We need to revisit the Indian style:

All knowledge is spontaneous, called as Apourusheya, flowing spontaneously derived from the universe. How can otherwise Sant Tukaram, Sant Janabai or Sant Bahinabai could produce un-thought wisdom through their verses?
Documentation then done but mainly the knowledge was passed on through mouth from one generation to the next. It was sometimes expanded as somebody added latter on something. We had a very strong social fiber, four Varnas (not castes!) and villages and towns were economically self-dependent.
But India is the only country hat was invaded now and then because of wealth in India. We are aware of the the history pages of the last 3000 years or so. During dark ages India lost almost everything, their knowledge, wisdom, scientific temper, etc.
We did know how to write and preserve books.
We must change our view deeper to search out what exactly the treasure we had, almost in all areas, numerology, astrology, geometry, algebra, number system, and many more areas.
We lost the Vedanta wisdom because of our deeds, believing more in West.
West is mad after Indian ancient knowledge, may be Ayurveda, Yoga, Mantras, etc. Vedic Mathematics is taught in West, Yoga is reinvented by West, a mere outcome of their scientific pursuit.

Its an interesting question that came while talking with a senior professor at my university.

We were discussing.... Nalanda...konark temple construction....taj mahal...kailash shiv temple....and other construction marvels....like the ajanta caves....

And we were also discussing the thorny issue of no indian university making it to the top 200...so..embarrasingly drumed up...

So the question followed ....Is someone documenting this knowledge ......and who

There was an earthquake in nepal...and again the shiv temple survived...

Please let';s not get into the histeria ..of the power of shiva and all...there is something more precious...here at work...

Two temples...one survived flood and the other an earthquake...is there knowledge ..construction knowledge...?
Yes ..as already showed in case of kailash...but we need a foreign researcher to show us this.....

Are other shiv temples also have an engineering marvel hidden in them...waiting to be discovered....

Perhaps the people of the past had this as the only way of passing knowledge to new age construction engineers so that it could be implemented in future structures....

My question....who is going to start documenting this..all over again...
