This is a 6-18 month contract onsite in Pittsburgh. They are looking to interview on the phone either today or tomorrow. Want to see resumes of candidates who are immediately available and speak with them right away. Strong AIX and Redhat are required for this role.
Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of Unix, storage, SAN and virtual environments. Develops, documents and implements system standards based on best practices. Maintains and monitors the systems to achieve an optimum level of performance. Implement, configure and maintain technologies related to storage networking and storage provisioning.
Primary Responsibilities
- Designs, configures, monitors and maintains Unix, ESX, SAN systems to provide optimum performance and system availability.
- Recommend, design, Install, and configure IBM AIX systems implementing LPAR's, VIO servers, and HMC.
- Design, Install and configure HPUX systems using Ignite servers
- Design, Install and configure RHEL using kickstart
- Design, Install and configure Sun Solaris
- Design, Install and configure ESX servers and virtual environments
- Design, Install and configure advanced Storage and SAN solutions.
- Design, Implement and maintain system security across Unix platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to system performance, network and storage.
- Gather performance and data usage statistics for capacity planning and reporting.
- Generate and maintain documentation of the UNIX, SAN and Storage environments
- Patch and maintain UNIX, Storage and SAN systems at supported levels.
- Create and implement shell / Perl scripts for monitoring and alerting purposes.
- Design and maintain operating system backup solutions for system recovery and disaster recovery
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, i.e., military, trade school, certificate, etc. and 8-10 years of relevant experience.
- 5-7 years of experience as a Unix Administrator
- 2-3 years of experience with IBM AIX Virtualization & LPAR's
- 2-3 years of experience with Redhat linux.
- Knowledge of EMC San hardware a plus.
- Knowledge of VMware a plus..
- Knowledge of EMC Networker a plus.
- Knowledge of UNIX shell programming a plus.
- Knowledge of SUN Solaris environment a plus.
- Knowledge of Client-UX environment a plus.
- Previous experience scheduling/prioritizing work & projects.
- Strong communication skills, both written & verbal.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
- Excellent solution solving skills and the ability to work independently
