Your are right.
It is unfortunate that when I worked for MPhil in University of Dhaka they wanted that I write article under their main authorship.I denied.Because it was their prime responsibility to supervise me.They do not write a single line.Yous see-when we submit article,a good referee sometimes criticizes more than 4/5 pages. For this criticism should we request them to join as co-author?
However,my PhD supervisor is good.He was from University of Chittagong and never asked me to publish any article under his co-authorship.
Actually it depends nature of the faculty-his/her honesty, dignity and ethical and morality.
Kind regards.
