--SDF SOUTH AFRICA WANTS RENEWAL OF PARTY's LEADERSHIPFRU NDI TO STEP DOWN?The debate was heated during the SDF, South Africa Region's General Quarterly Congress of September 26 2015. Militants wanted to know why the party hierarchy in SA, had not written the letter it was instructed to send to the National Chairman of the SDF, Ni John Fru Ndi, asking him to send early signals that he would not run in 2016 as chair of the party. The Chair of SDF SA argued that they do not want to give into distraction. "SDF SA as an organ of our party might disagree with the way the Chairman has handled certain events in the SDF as echoed severally by militants in a number of meetings. We know without doubt that he remains the best person to lead the party and keep it strong till the October 2016 convention. We refuse to be used by detractors of the struggle to divide our party - the only hope Cameroonians have. SDF SA stands for the unity of the party at all cost" Milton Taka explained.FRU NDI TO STEP DOWN?He urged militants to lobby for what they want with diplomacy. "SDF SA has an expressed public view that it will go for a change of guard/ leadership in the 2016 Convention which must be peaceful, orderly and constructive. Our preference is that our well respected National Chairman of the SDF, Comrade Ni John Fru Ndi with a tall order of achievements in many fronts of our national life makes an official announcement long before party primaries as we matc towards the 2016 Convention that he will not run for position of National Chairman but will be there to continue to mentor and coach our next generation of leaders until we take over leadership of the country.," Milton Taka added. The Scribe of SDF SA, Chebefuh Roland said they needed more militants to travel to Cameroon during the Convention and make their voice head. "We need at least 50 militants and five have already indicated their willingness to travel to Cameroon for the 2016 October convention. We have to be at the convention to make our voice heard and our stance felt, "he said.It emerged from the GA that the militants must clamor for the constitution to be amended and for there to exist a veritable separation of powers between the National Executive Committee, NEC, the National Advisory Council, NAC, and the National Investiture Committee, NIC."It is not about our respected Chairman Fru Ndi. It is about making power to be decentralized. Our position is informed by the critical need for our organization to renew itself with new leadership. We will look at the profile of candidates including for the position of Chairman and decide in session those we will support and campaign for. We can trash Mr Biya and the CPDM in all 2018 elections if the John Fru Ndi brand remains strong and he holds the hand of a new younger leader who we pray must be able to reinvent and develop the 1990 hunger for change in our people," insisted Chairman Milton Taka. The SDF SA also announced that close to ¼ of the 200 bags of rice, to support Cameroonian soldiers in the war effort against Boko Haram, have been collected, with the dateline for donations extended to November 30.Militants were appointed to carry the campaign to other cultural groups in SA.The pioneer Chair of SDF SA, Comrade Baliki expressed gratitude to all the militants especially Chris Zenkeng, who abandoned their businesses, joined in picketing and ensuring a branch of the party was created. He urged all the militants to respect the party's constitution and to press on for veritable change in Cameroon. He used the occasion to clad SDF SA's guest of honour during the GA assembly, Marc Gbaffou, Chairman of the African Diaspora Forum ADF, a federation of migrant associations which defends the interest of migrants in SA, with the SDA regalia. Marc Gbaffou said he was elated to see Cameroonians in SA battling with limited resources to bring change in their country and Africa and pledged to exchange ideas with the SDF henceforth.SDF members who were unable to attend the GA from Cape Town, Pretoria and from Cameroon participated through skype. Poor connectivity did not permit the SDF SA Second vice Chair Paul Nkamankeng to participate. The SDFA SA First Vice chair, Comrade Seraphine joined the host Turffontein SDF ward Chair comrade Mokolo to ask members to make the necessary sacrifices needed to change Cameroon and for the SDF to take power.
