The claim that "the greater population of Binka is Moslem" needs to be verified. A counter claim could be that Moslems are not the greater population of any Wimbum village (not that there is anything wrong with a Wimbum village becoming predominantly Moslem).

Even the news media you copied from, does not have details. Why would the Fon open a Church being a Baptist? Is he really the pastor of the Church? Or is he a mere sponsor or patron? Before this move, what was the Fon's perception of wimbum traditional religion as was reflected in the way he ran the affairs of Binka village? Why would he establish a christian-like church instead of an Islamic-like one given that the greater population of binka is moslem? How does this church actually operate? What is the nature of a typical worship? Is it on Sundays or any other day?How much support of his village has he gathered, even if the supporters don't attend his Church? Why?Does his quest stand in the way of his governing his people? And how? What i am pressing here is that we have inadequate information to offer any constructive debate or opinions on the issue. We cannot really rely on half truths to negate or affirm his endeavor. On the other hand, if its about biblical authority on the nature of marriage, its a whole separate issue. Those who do not possess biblical hermeneutical authority are not also worthy to interpret for Christians. Whether Catholic or which organization, has a system's interpretation lens through which their theologians see. The bible is not the final authority for all christian organizations. If you want to know why marriage, according to some religious bodies, is preferably one man to one woman or that gay marriage is forbidden, or why priests most be wifeless, ask the appropriate biblical interpreters or religious authorities. Then you can follow with a critique. The Fon has done a thing which till now remains the operation of what seems to be a Christian Church. We don't yet know the full story.Ta Nformi Emmanuel

If the missionaries came from present day China, they would have advocated "one family, one child" and that will have nothing to do with the Bible. Turkish Imams do not advocate "one man, four wives" as recorded in the Koran. Catholic priest and nun celebrity is not an order of the Bible. There are things the Bible advocates that the missionaries did not make doctrinaire requirements as they do, "one man, one wife"; a secular legal requirement in their home origin.

This was a hoax that originated from a Kenyan website....in this time of age, I wonder who really wants to wives....Men are unable to handle and care for one wife as the Bible calls for but yet they want two wives...May be polyandry should be advocated too..

Men to marry two wives or
be jailed161718.info | 26th
January 2016Sometimes,
it seems we live in uncivilized
world. Last year, two women were
sentenced to rape in India and
the news went viral on the internet. Now the whole world is
buzzing about Eritrean government who seems to be living in
medieval time.
While
some countries are trying to abolish polygamy, Eritrean men
have been reportedly asked by their government to marry more
than one wife or risk being jailed for
life.Polygamous
family in AfricaThose
who love polygamous lifestyle but live in countries where
polygamy is an offence may be thinking of going to settle in
Eritrea.According
to the government, the order is because there is an acute
shortage of men due to the civil war they fought
with
Ethiopia. Eritrea was annexed by Ethiopia in 1953. The
document which was issued by the government reads:
"Based
on the law of God in polygamy, and given the circumstances
which the country is experiencing in terms of men shortage,
the Eritrean department of Religious Affairs has decided on
the following:"First
that every man shall marry at least two women and the man
who refuses to do so shall be subjected to life imprisonment
with hard labour."The
woman who tries to prevent her husband from marrying another
wife shall be punished to life
imprisonment."RELATED
ARTICLE: The largest family in the
worldEritrea
is a multi-ethnic country, with nine recognized ethnic
groups in its population of around six
million.Eritrean
men asked to marry two wives or be jailedEritrean
women are said to be very beautiful and they hearken a lot
to their men counterparts largely because most of them
depend on the men for their livelihood. The country ranks
that worst (189 out of 189) on the World Bank's
ease-of-doing-business index.The
government who called on the male citizens to marry at least
two women is quite aware of the severe poverty in the
country. Therefore it also assured them that it would pay
for their marriage ceremonies as well as
accommodation.In
most African countries, polygamy is not an offence, provided
one has the money to cater for the women. Some African
countries such as Kenya even legalized
polygamy.However,
some people take advantage of this, misuse the opportunity
and end up marrying lots of women who they can hardly take
care of.In
Nigeria for instance, Alhaji Abubakar Bello Masaba, who
married 86 wives and has over 186 children became the head
of the largest family in the
world.
