[MTC Global] Maharashtra CM urges universities to focus on research

Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadanvis has appealed the universities to lay as much focus on research on issues of remote places as on global subjects.

The CM also underlined the importance of women education in progressive society citing advancement made in developed countries.

Fadnavis speaking during the third convocation ceremony of Gondwana University at Gadchiroli said, "Stress should be on research beneficial for the society."

He also called upon the students to derive inspiration from patriotism and use their knowledge for benefit of society.

Fadanvis distributed gold medals to meritorious pass-outs of summer 2015, university exams. "Utilize your knowledge to bring smiles on faces," he said. Fadnavis urged the students to face challenges to come fore and avail the opportunities offered in the nation.

Fadnavis said that country's development could be achieved through utilization of human resources in the form of youths. He claimed that the average age of the India's manpower would be 29 by 2020 which would be sufficient to cater to the workforce demand of the entire globe as the average age of other progressive countries would be far above at the same time. "Convert your acquired knowledge to fit the practical purpose of the society," he said appealing the students to change their mindsets towards education, reported ToI.
