Our client is seeking candidates for a Front-end Java Developer position with a strategic client in the Asset and Wealth Management Industry in Baltimore, MD or in New York.

Must come out of the finance/trading industry and MUST be local to the area.   

Scope of the project involves application development in the Private Wealth and Asset Management domain. This includes new functionalities, regulatory projects and other enhancements. Project is executed in a global delivery model including business center in NY, offshore team and other stakeholders located globally.

Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems which deliver high-availability and performance.
• Provide architecture and design recommendations and implement these in terms of usability, scalability, design and performance.
• Provide solutions for technical and functional issues including performance related items and reducing complexity, increasing maintainability and providing flexibility and reusability.
• Enhancing, building, tuning and debugging applications and other related duties and responsibilities.
• Work with functional staff to establish and clarify requirements
• Investigates and corrects software defects
• Prepares comprehensive design and technical specifications documentation, and ensures timely completion of assigned work

Required Skills
• 6+ years' experience in Java and related technologies
• Experience in developing web applications using GWT framework
• Should have strong understanding of Java, SOAP, XML and UNIX Shell scripting
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
• Continuous delivery (automated build, test, deploy)
• Highly distributed, highly scalable solutions
• Understanding of principles of front end design for user experience
• Sound knowledge of unit testing methodologies and frameworks
• Spring framework, hibernate, etc.
• Database - Oracle
• Need to have good ability to understand application systems and provide impact analysis
• Should have good design skills
• Should be able to work in agile kind of environment
• Should have good client facing skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in teams that are located in multiple regions
• Understanding of Asset and Wealth Management business is a value add
