Dear MTCians,

Entrepreneurship education, like any other formal/informal education, certainly does work to some extent. That's what National Knowledge Commission (NKC) had also stated in its report.

At Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology (SNIST), Hyderabad, we are striving systematically to create greater awareness on entrepreneurship and are seeking to promote/nurture interest in pursuit of entrepreneurship. We are also partnering with Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad to offer a specially designed Technology Entrepreneurship Program (TEP) to our engineering students in the 3rd and 4th year of their B.Tech. program.

Our efforts have started yielding positive results. Our students have started coming out with many innovative solutions and have been applying for IPRs. Some of them have come forward to start campus companies. SNISTians are determined to be in the forefront of start-up movement in the country.

We need to share our experiences and learn from our mistakes and successes.

Regards,

Prof. G. Surender Reddy

Director, IEDC, SNIST

Urge to make a difference has to come from within. What can happen on the campus is little bit of handholding and other facilitating help. More than entrepreneurs what we need today are social entrepreneurs like solar water bottles.

Entrepreneurship is the most commonly used word today. We see a renewed interest and thrust on the subject. Most of the  B-schools have it in the syllabus. Colleges do have ED Cell /Incubator and also there are B-Plan competition and other activities. But hardly any conversion?

Request esteemed MTCians' views on 'How the subject should be taught and the approach to really inject the entrepreneurism spirit?"
