Dear Sir: I believe that entrepreneurship cannot thrive in a vacuum. It needs a
supportive ecosystem. For building an ecosystem, the Govt and the very large corporate
houses have a role to play. Take the example of Dharavi- the largest slum in Asia. It is
an ecosystem. It has entrepreneurs who provide ready to eat chapatis to a very large
number of restaurants. If the ecosystem is large as in China, it will spawn entrepreneurs
that will integrate backward and in turn provide employment. Amul is a classic case of
spawning dairy businesses-through the NDDB.
Bhayander, in the outskirts of Mumbai, was also a similar ecosystem which created a large
number of entrepreneurs of low priced goods.
B schools ought to study the ecosystems as a the kind of environment for seeding
entrepreneurs.
Best Regards,
K.Paranjpe

Enterpreneurship education can be learned because there is no esoteric/mysticism
practices. However, we may have problem in the evaluation method. we can not use the
conventional evaluation system. It also requires different criteria for
evaluation.Regards,Prof. Vijendra Kumar S.K.Assistant Professor & Counseling

Dear MTCians,Entrepreneurship education, like any other formal/informal education,
certainly does work to some extent. That's what National Knowledge Commission (NKC) had
also stated in its report. At Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology (SNIST),
Hyderabad, we are striving systematically to create greater awareness on entrepreneurship
and are seeking to promote/nurture interest in pursuit of entrepreneurship. We are also
partnering with Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad to offer a specially designed
Technology Entrepreneurship Program (TEP) to our engineering students in the 3rd and 4th
year of their B.Tech. program. Our efforts have started yielding positive results. Our
students have started coming out with many innovative solutions and have been applying
for IPRs. Some of them have come forward to start campus companies. SNISTians are
determined to be in the forefront of start-up movement in the country. We need to share
our experiences and learn from our mistakes and successes.Regards,Prof. G. Surender

the B-schools have it in the syllabus. Colleges do have ED Cell /Incubator and also there
are B-Plan competition and other activities. But hardly any conversion?Request esteemed
