Then let the Doctor stay clear off this struggle than being part of the road block! Remember that Apartheid in South Africa was fought both at home and abroad and much of the pressure came from abroad.

Hello Manor:

You write like a modern patriot and sure you are aware that protesting gets results from the storming of "la bastille," to the cities of Burkina Faso, popular rising can help bring needed change to a deeply stagnant society. What we may not be conscious in this debate is that  before we get to that point of an effective popular uprising, some of our people who plan to work with the current system have to jump some hoops before their mission is accomplished.

We can give the doctor a break here because his plan is to settle back home and help the people and not the suppressive government. I have seen many who were on our side but because they had to put food on the table while on the ground, literary change overnight to support the status quo just to get their way into the system. I believe if there was a popular uprising on the ground this Doctor cannot not stop it. Lets give the doctor a break so he can get his permit to help the sick.

God have mercy and forgive them their ignorance! What on earth will cause a self proclaimed "neutral" person to stand between popular conscience and good judgment and his "systemic ambitions"?
Methink, the best practice awaiting all qualified medical practitioners or any Camerounese Public Health Decadence, PHD, should or must be  to help restore or protect the healthcare of their impoverished population rather than serving in  societies that have a doctor to 3 citizens.
Cameroun health authorities and doctors must learn from others like Indians, who are leading in saving the lives of their people for free in adverse situations.
I am amused by any self seeking "patriot" openly begging for position in a sinking ship, what will happen if that "eternal god" finally goes on a journey of no return? To my mind its hypocrisy of gigantic proportions.
Other people have used violent revolutions to built their countries like the storming of the Bastille, that culminated to the overthrow of the Monarchy and introduction of a Republic. If these people behaved sheepishly and dumb would France, that is today the thorn of our flesh, existed? Also the American revolution and the struggle for civil rights wouldn't have taken place if some doctor cum  "avocat du diable, (devil's advocate) had asked people not to protest because of "giving a bad name".
After several health mishaps in the Cameroons ( like the Bota hospital cum butcher house) which have led to several dead, the people at least deserve a seasoned medical road map and prompt intervention from qualified medics all over the world, ( through like minded professional mobilisation) and not the allellua choir, supporting the status quo that has indirectly or directly taken away the love ones of so many families and friends.
Well as its said, one good turn deserves another and also a bad omen must be cleansed.

Dear Community,

I have made it clear on numerous occasions that I do not belong to ex - alumni groups. I do not belong to tribal meetings. I do not belong to  parallel associations.  I do not belong to political parties.  I am more neutral than Switzerland in view of my systemic ambitions.

You were asking about the nexus between Community protest and  job seeking and entry  clearance visas

Below is my view:

If you take to the streets in diaspora,  the local authority must guarantee the safety of protesters.  This entails use of resources and indirect waste of money in matters which has got nothing to do with the country hosting the protesters. They won't welcome it.

During the period of protest, job seekers of  Cameroon origin could be seen as trouble makers - being disadvantaged for  employment .

Also, during the period of protest, potential applicants for entry clearance could see their applications declined for SECURITY REASONS.

Ebola , which was a Sierra Leone,  Liberia,  Guinea and partially Nigeria problem affected many of us here in Diaspora. Did you know that?

Finally, you are free to stage all the protests on earth in Cameroon. Paul Biya is a very , very lucky man.

He has never worked in his life and has survived the 1984 coup, assassination attempts, Ville Mort, Rivalry from Ex Fru  Ndi, Coup D etat orchestrated by Sarkozy, and is still surviving Boko Haram.

He has never publicly executed his opponents and is highly regarded by the Vatican.

Therefore he has a lucky star.

The next president could be  possessed and we could end up fighting each other.

We have a say in my dialect : Vie na Biso ezah na maboko ya Zambe.  To-sambela- kaka.

That is our life is the hands of God. Let us keep praying.

Very interesting remarks here by Mr Manjong

Dr. Kemah,

One can question the wisdom of calling for protests. The reasons you raise here are among the most ridiculous against the protests; most especially from a medical doctor. You are not alone. Prof Mbu as Director of Family Health in the Ministry of Public Health came out with a very laughable attempt at putting a lid on what is known of Cameroun; this incident notwithstanding.

Given AIDS/HIV and Ebola, the general tendency in Cameroun is to avoid having a wake with the corpse  (seeming public policy). Prof Mbu seemed indeferent to medical practitioners at Nylon District Hospital not caring that a corpse arrived there in the trunk of a taxi and taken away in same to Laquentinie; following which, the very taxi could pick up a passanger and have the food load of the passanger in the taxi trunk that just repeatedly carried a corpse. You here seem to say such medical negligence is not worthy of public outrage.

Given that Boko Haram is presently being contained in the north; thanks to Obama's 300 soldiers; are you and Prof Mbu not concern that the 'famous' Laquintinie by this episode seems open to anyone walking in and doing anything thinkable? The better patriot is the one that brings to light that which must be checked before irreparable harm takes hold. It seems for you and Prof Mbu, the better patriot is one that pretends all is well until things are bad beyond repairs (interesting patriotism the Camerounese way). The world knows more about what is regrettable of Cameroun than a public protest can add to the knowing.

Dear Community,

There is an ongoing email and text message  inviting Cameroon  Nationals in Western Countries to take to the streets as symbolic gesture  against the issues surrounding medical practices in Douala.

Let us  in Diaspora do not get ourselves involved .

Those who want to fight Biya , please go  to Cameroon..

Please  don't spoil our bad name.

We are  damaging the image of our country and this   could impact those seeking for jobs, applying for entry clearance visa etc.

Please note that I am not a CPDM militant   nor sympathiser.

Best Wishes.
