Dear All,

Salaries and other perks depends on many factors in educational institutions like the vision and mission of the institution, need for the faculty, no of students intake for the class and deliverables of the aspiring candidate. A candidate could ask for 15-20% hike normally. if anybody wants higher than this, rests on his negotiation skills and additional deliverables. Also they need to be aware of UGC/AICTE pay scales for the particular posts.

Indeed a difficult question to answer as there are many  parameters on which the answer depends, lots of ifs and elses, for example, the profile and capability of the company to pay, background and competence of the candidate etc. A good student from top tier B school can demand 40L CTC to Google.  Know in advance what they are paying to the employees belonging in that grade. If you feel that suits you, then you attend the interview otherwise forget it. Once you decide to attend and if given the option, it is better to ask the figure that commensurate your profile.  Wealthy and progressive organizations never hesitate to compensate the right person but certainly that should not be an absurd figure. However, you can ask for more depending on your needs and wants for becoming a happy person. In case the interviewer says "sorry we can't afford that", the only option left for you is to quit.

Sometimes, this is the most difficult question for the students in interview so for the faculty changing jobd for  better opportunities.......

We know there are many ways to address the question like 15-20% hike on the last salary [Based on Marketing Correction], instead of quoting a figure give a band, as per existing norms, few ask for joining bonus etc...

Would love to hear some more views on the subject....
