Job Description
Responsibilities
• Provide leadership to internal and external development teams through all phases of the technology development life cycle
• When circumstances require, take a hands-on role to ensure objectives are met
• Collaborate closely with the Solution Architect to provide implementation details for selected solutions
• Establish a collaborative working relationship with internal and external development teams participating in the project
• Designs projects with broad implications for the business, delivering innovative changes and successfully addressing cross-technology and cross-platform issues
• Ensure solution designs and development efforts align with architecture
• Work across development teams to ensure system integrations points are understood, built with precision and rigorously managed
• Ensure design satisfies security requirements and manage relationship with Security Review Board during project execution
• Partner with Project Management to establish development metrics and reporting
• Lead effort and duration estimation for develop work streams during project planning
• Ensure best practices for build management are being followed
• Articulate development issues/concerns to non-IT stakeholders including senior business sponsors
• Responsible for timely and accurate environment setup and coordinating release management
• Handle complex development issues by both providing technical support and interfacing with the relevant developers
• Closely monitor industry trends and developments and passes on knowledge when important
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in a technical field and/or equivalent work experience
• Advanced degree preferred
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to varying audiences, including non-technical business executives
• Team Leadership Experience: (2-5 years)
• Has designed systems/applications with high level of complexity (e.g. many interfaces, multiple packages, platforms)
• Service Design Experience: (2-5 years)
• App Dev or SOA Dev Experience: (5-10 years)
• Solution and System integration architecture experience: (2-5 years)
• Congenial, history of building consensus among competing interests
• Strong SOA concepts and tools experience
• Strong XML schema experience, ACORD experience preferred
• Strong Java / .NET / Web App experience
• Strong experience with source control management
• Strong Relational Database development experience, design experience preferred
• Experience with continuous integration tools (eg. Jenkins)
• Recent active member of an Agile development team preferred
• Life Insurance or financial services background preferred
