Assistant/Associate Professor

(Human Development and Family Studies)

Department of Human Sciences

Full-time, 12-month, tenure track (60% teaching, 40% research); partially grant funded; available August 2016

QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in human development and family studies or related area. Competence in subject matter as evidenced by relevant course work, research, computer skills, college/university teaching experience, and on-line teaching experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach courses in human development and family studies including child development, parenting education, administration and supervision of child care centers; supervise internship students; advise students; serve on departmental and university committees; provide service to the community and in the profession. Conduct research and other scholarly activities related to departmental goals; disseminate and present research results to diverse audiences, prepare grant proposals for external funding.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Human Sciences is in the School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies; Merchandising, Textiles and Design; and Nutrition and Dietetics. Programs are accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

SALARY:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Earned doctorate in human nutrition, food science, or closely related field; experience with college level instruction and conducting research.

- Teach undergraduate courses in experimental foods, food chain safety, food microbiology, sensory evaluation, food policy and law, and/or food processing.

- Develop and conduct research in nutrition and food science.

- Build relationships with food industry businesses and agencies to further the goals of the program ad secure financial support.
