Re: [MTC Global] Is it really possible to change the attitude and the mind-set of People?

Dear All,
Adding to what Virendra Goelji said, both attitude and values can be changed or modified and can be inculcated too. But there are some functional issues.
1. The person need to feel that I need to change, it is good for me and others. This felt need comes only if he sees the change in the role models. However if there is discrepancy in the role models being and talking, it does not work!
Ex. I met a CEO of the large organization some time back. He came in BMW car and started talking about adapting Gandhian values!!
2. Changes are slow and gradual. However, we expect that sudden change in values also! It does not work. A person can not change his habituated behaviour suddenly (it happens in movies or stories) or some people might changed suddenly. Still we need to accept that it has to be gradual and bumpy!
3. We expect that the changed factors have to be 100%! Again It is a fallacy that 100% adapting a value is impossible! We can not act like Sathya Harishchandra! It is bumpy and jurks would be there.
4. Another fallacy that good things happen after this! However, it can not be guaranteed. yes, it supposed to happen but not necessary.
5. It requires coaching by experts! Are we ready to spend on getting coached/mentord for change? No we want to save that money!! We tend to forget that even in ancient India, all the highly accomplished kings have coaches or king makers! Rama had Vasistha, Yudhisthara had Krishna, Chandragupta had Chanakya, shivaji had Dadoji. All these Guru's did not have authority or power. But they had the wisdom, knowledge and humility to guide. That is required.
How come we did not meet at Sankalp 2016? It is alright, we will meet sometime in the near future!

I believe that you cannot change people's thinking or behavior. What you can decide is plan your response to individuals in a way that will negate the negativity and demonstrate the positivity. There may not be immediate results but over long run you may see positive change. Besides you will be at peace with yourself.  Don't judge people, accept them as they are and be happy.

Subject: [MTC Global] Is it really possible to change the attitude and the mind-set of People?
Importance: High

Dear All,

Let me explore my learning experience in this way:

Planning can be changed, Organizations can be changed, Directions can be changed, Controlling can also be changed.

To say further, The Policies, Procedures, Positions, Companies, Systems, technologies, applications, learning methods and even culture can also be changed.

BUT I HAVE FOUND A GRAET DIFFICULTY IN CHANGING THE MINDSET OF PEOPLE who are working around.

I had posed this question everywhere I go (Including Sankalp 2016) to enhance my knowledge, but I did not find any satisfactory solution yet.

Recently Being much fascinated about change, I just started thinking of a word called VALUE.

Then I realised that VALUES are more powerful than Attitudes; like if we Value time, we will have time sense and we become punctual. If we value reading newspaper, we will read it every day. If we value wearing office attires professionally, we will have dressing sense, and finally if we value the acceptance to change then I think attitude can be changed.

SO, the immediate next question is how to create Value or how to Generate VALUE system !

Please help me with your gracious replies and I feel this the right platform to get the answer for unanswered questions.

Heartiest Thanks and Kind Regards,
