any institution needs to be sensitive and protect itself from possibilities of any incidents that could malign its interests and is justified in seeking any relevant information which may be necessary to avoid such serious embarrassments later. These would be in the best interest of the institution, the girl students and the families concerned, as long as precautions are taken to ensure that the collected information is not misused.
Meaning what?a girl having a relationship? becoming pregnant?
For the boys ok? So if a girl becomes pregnant the University can be in court? really? on what basis?
Embarrassment? whose?

It is true like any other regulatory bodies university is the apex body in education, the domain of intellectual play and knowledge. Any notification issued by such authorities is a matter of concern as it helps set social culture. What is the motive/intention behind such a notification? Whim, dominance, to overcome some emergent issue, based on facts/environment, or any other scientific reason? To look at the notification from purely gender discrimination point of view is of no avail.

Thanks Professor for putting through your thoughts, I respect your points of concerns even being disagreeing in-toto.
On cause of personal right, I do agree with few of senses, however, I do not agreeing with history of abortion, students' case to forwarded to legal action in court of Indian law. The University does not follow any legal action, itself reflects its sense of use of information, and reason of information just to maintain some background to capture the possible culprits, if such mishappenings occurs in the future.
Yes, I do agree the boys students must also be asked for such information, otherwise, it is purely cause of gender biasness.

Dear Academicians,
I don't know why does it sound odd. I am dare to say, if it right cause and do not be disclosed to others, and objectives are rightfully met without any misuse of the info, then what is problem. My mind is unable to get it. I am getting some parenting senses of the University as been reflected in the answer given by the alumni who did B.Tech. (Biotechnology). We should come out of the our orthodox cell, and be courageous to accept its prime good senses behind asking so called sensitive info. I know, my senses and my word may be criticised by a few of members. But I am sure, as mother (due her sensible parenthood) ask such info from her daughter to take care of effectively, then is it wrong. Therefore, I urge all intel mind to be critical and same time not only for cause of critique but for cause of creativity and benefitting.

All these details are personal," said Singh, an IT engineer.The university started maintaining gynaecological profiles of students after a newborn was found dead in one of the hostels, university sources said."The health profile form is filled after the students are admitted to the university, and the questions pertain to their health," vice-chancellor Shastri said.
