Reports from Buea in the South West Region of Cameroon indicate that security forces have opened fire on Students of the University of Buea who have been on strike since early November 28 2016.
The reasons for the strike action remain so far unclear, although reports are indicating that the students are demanding the payment of 50000 Frs (about $100) Presidential grant to third year students.
University authorities had issued a statement to explain to the students the trouble with the presidential grants. Security has been deployed in and around the Molyko campus.
