142 – Project Manager 3 – through 5/26/2017 with possibility of extension up to 18 months

 

Position objective:

 

The Lead Project Manager is responsible for accomplishing project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities on large, complex projects with little or no supervision. This includes completing the project schedule, cost budgeting, scope planning, managing project issues and risk, as well as resource and quality management.

 

Essential job responsibilities:

·        Establishes project goals, milestones, and procedures, defines roles and responsibilities, acquires project resources

·        Proactively follows up with others to ensure commitments are on track and stay on track; ensures project deliverables are complete and accurate.

·        Create, track and manage project schedules; ask probing questions to determine realistic ability of project team to meet commitments; and drives any resulting corrections to the schedule.

·        Recognizes and tackles risks independently

·        Takes independent action to drive project progress

·        Leads proficiently through change and adversity

·        Leads large, cross functional teams

·        Builds effective teamwork

·        Identifies potential conflicts and diffuses before it starts

·        Finds causes of and solutions to problems

·        Handles difficult people well

·        Builds allies and relationships across departments

·        Follow and drive improvements to the PLC and SDLC

·        Educate others in the organization on the PLC and SDLC

·        Assists junior staff and other interested staff in understanding and applying project management principles

·        Seeks opportunities to communicate project status and direction by regularly distributing meeting minutes and status reports

·        Keeps stakeholders proactively informed/consulted with prior to sharing information.

·        Provides factual representations of project issues, does not shy away from difficult news, but instead proactively packages the news with next steps, remediation plans, specific support requests of leaders, and appropriate knowledge of the issue to be able to answer predicted questions

·        Completion of planning and obtaining commitment to the work

·        Facilitation of meetings

·        Tracking and managing scope, schedule, budget

·        Communication and coordination of project team members

 

Requirements:

·        Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Information Services preferred

·        four to six years consulting experience preferred

·        Eight to twelve years experience, and four years in program/project management
