Re: [MTC Global] Quiet space for work Vs open collaborative spaces

Office should be a  closed one  for concentration   and to carry out other works and at  the same time a person concern should build up a open  mind set  to all

Whether it is Open Office or separated cabins.... the most important aspect is whether the official have Open mindset devoid of ego & other occupational hierarchy setbacks. If the official is collaborative, his separated cabin would have open access to all. However in my working experience I have come across many HOD's who have changed colors overnight when given promotion and a separate office. They suddenly developed closed mindset behind closed doors.
AWFIS is one corporate venture which is renting out office space - an open office and a fun place to work....and Yes, it also depends to a great extent on the work environment to bring out the best in a person.
If it is a scientific research, it is justified to have secrecy and separate office to enable concentration on the research work. However at work place it would be ideal to promote open access - with timing restriction for students of course.

The "open office" is supposed to tear down walls and encourage collaboration. The concept is very much prevailing in corporate. In academics also, few places we have work-station for junior faculty .

But in majority of cases, we find separate cabin and get access to the authorities is a tough task.

Do you support 'open office' and believe that it helps in collaboration.
