Defense Department
The Defense Department is promoting and facilitating bilateral relations in relation with the delegate Cameroonian Minister of Defense and the Secretary of State in charge of the gendarmerie. The Defense Department also coordinates the Mission Military Cooperation and Defense (MCMD) acting within the legal framework of military cooperation agreements between France and Cameroon.

Reporting to the Ministry of Defense, the post of Defense in Yaoundé performs a function in advising the Ambassador for all military matters, and is the official representation with Cameroonian military officials.
As such, the Defense department, and in particular its leader, the defense attaché, is responsible for the promotion and facilitation of bilateral relations in connection with the Cameroonian Minister Delegate to the defense and the State Secretariat in charge of the gendarmerie. The Defense department in Yaoundé is also responsible for the actions of military cooperation financed from the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the Mission of Military Cooperation and Defense.
His goal is to help, through partnership projects, Cameroonian armed forces (including the police) to participate in the construction and development of the rule of law, to defend the national territory, people and property and to develop the capacities for international peacekeeping operations.
Its missions therefore involve, in particular:
