Re: [MTC Global] Less then 2% women make it to the Vice Chancellor's chair.

Thanks Professor sharing a very interesting data.

My take is:

  1. There is 30% women reservation.
  2. certain branches like Computer Science, IT, Electronics, etc., have more women faculty  in the cadre of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor.  And in the next 5-10 years, number of women professors will be higher than male professors.
  3. Since the last 5 decades massive expansion of HE has taken place and normally both husband and wife are employed in city/semi- urban areas giving better opportunities to women to work as faculty.
  4. As far VC's post is concerned, the posts are limited, selection needs some other merits and women may be reluctant to accept  a job away from their home.  Moreover, the salary and perks for VC's post  are not much attractive.
  5. More or less similar scenario is expected in case of teachers in Primary-secondary- Jr. College level. And like VCs,   a few women will have the Educational Officers posts!
